The new Academy is now live

Welcome to the Academy!    

The Texas OnCourse Academy is your go-to source for professional development on college and career advising. With the Academy, you have immediate access to everything you need to support any student on any postsecondary option. We update the Academy regularly, so you can be confident that you have the most accurate and up-to-date information.

The Academy includes over 30 learning modules on endorsements, graduation plans, career pathways, entrance exams, college applications, military academies, financial aid, and more. All these free modules are available remotely, and you can review them at your own pace. This calendar helps you plan your learning throughout the year.

The Academy is a product from Texas OnCourse. Texas OnCourse, a state-funded program of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, is the state's definitive source for career and college planning.



Academy Navigation   

  • You can access the Academy courses from the main dashboard.

  • Courses are also called badges, since completing a course will award you a badge and a certificate. You can also access courses via the Courses link on the left-hand navigation pane.

  • Once you select the course you would like to explore, you'll see the course homepage.

  • This page includes general information about the course and its content.

  • To start reviewing the course modules, click on a module name from the course homepage, or use the Modules section in the course navigation on the left-hand side. Here you can access any part of the module.

  • Each module contains an introduction, a preassessment, several units, and an end-of-module assessment. Click on a page to view its content.

  • Then you can navigate between pages and units by selecting Next Up or Previous at the bottom.

  • To return to the course homepage, you can click on the Home link in the course navigation.

Progress & Mastery Within a Course  

  • In order to complete a course and receive a certificate, you'll need to complete all required modules within it.

  • In order to complete a module, you’ll need to correctly answer all the questions in the Test Your Mastery assessment quizzes.

  • You can see when a quiz has been completed by the green checkmark next to it.

  • The same checkmark will appear next to the module name once you’ve completed all associated quizzes.

My Progress & Certificate of Completion

  • Start by navigating to the My Progress page. You can find this in the left-hand course navigation.

  • In the top-level navigation bar, you can see the content areas. Clicking on one will update the page to display a list of associated courses.

  • A course listing includes the course name, total available modules, number of completed modules, and overall percentage completed.

  • The badge icon will change color from gray once you've mastered all modules within a course. You can click on the course name to view the names and completion status of each module.

  • If you click on a module, you'll see information for the individual units within that module.

  • To access your certificates, click on the View Badges link on the top right-hand of the page. Here you can see all the badges you've earned so far.

  • Clicking on the View Certificate button will open up the certificate in a new tab and allow you to save it as a PDF or print it.

Printable Resources  

  • At the bottom of each module, you'll find a link to Additional Resources. This is where we list infographics, images, and PDFs you can download to help you in advising sessions, family nights, and training.

  • Clicking on the resource name will open it in a new browser tab, which you can then save to your bookmarks.

  • You can filter the resources using the menu on the left-hand side, or you can search through them by typing your search term in the search box.

  • Finally, if you would like to share a resource with someone, click on the Share icon and choose the platform you want to use.

Account Profile   

  • To make any changes to your account information, like updating your email address or password, you’ll need to access your My Account page.

  • To find this page, click on the Help link in the main navigation pane on the left-hand side. This will open a small window.

  • Click the link Account Profile, which will open a new tab with the Texas OnCourse Account Update form.

  • When you’re done updating your info, click on the Update button at the bottom of the page.

  • These changes will take effect the next time you log in to the Academy.


  • You can search for content within a course, or across all courses.

  • Access the search feature via the search bar at the top of the page or by clicking on the link from the main navigation bar on the left-hand side.

  • Once you’ve entered your search term, you can filter the results by type (module, quiz, page, etc) and courses (specific course or all of them), as well as sorting the results by relevancy and recency.

  • Clicking on a search result will direct you straight to the page that includes your search term.
