What are CPE hours and what are the hours for Academy Modules?

CPE hours are required when renewing your TEA educator license. Luckily, the Modules found in Academy can count towards your CPE hours.

What are CPE hours?

Here is the definition of CPE Hours from TEA's website: (https://tea.texas.gov/texas-educators/preparation-and-continuing-education/continuing-professional-education-cpe)

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is required for all Texas educators holding a standard certificate. The appropriate number of clock-hours of continuing professional education (CPE) must be completed during each five-year renewal period.

How many hours do each of the Modules have?

Academic Planning - 2 hours 

Career Exploration - 1 hour 

Career Pathways: Foundational Knowledge - 1 hour 

Career Planning - 1 hour 

Career Learning Experience - 1 hour 

 

Module: Financial Aid 

College Cost - 1 hour 

Financial Aid Application Process - 3 hours 

Financial Aid: Foundational Knowledge - 1hour 

Scholarship Application Process - 2 hours 

 

Module: Postsecondary Pathways

Admission and Application Process - 5 hours 

Entrance and Placement Exams - 3 hours 

Postsecondary Pathways: Foundational Knowledge - 1 hour

Postsecondary Research - 1 hour 

 

Module: Specialties 

Transition Advising -  1 hour 

Advising Highly Mobile Populations -  1 hour 

Middle School College and Career -  1 hour 

 

Success in Higher Education certificates do not show CPE hours, but they do follow the same rules as K-12. 1 module = 1 hr
